Starting off the evening, the tone was set early for a night of breakdowns and harmonies with Fame on Fire. Hot off the release of their latest album The Death Card had eager fans at the barricades singing at the top of their lungs. One girl in particular seemed nearly possessed as she knew and screamed every lyric for the entire set! (Vocalist) Bryan Kuznitz executed a clinic as he put on top notch vocal performance. The band’s energy and good vibes is just what the crowd needed to get warmed up for what was to soon follow…
One word… “THROWN!” Cincinnati was not there to play when it came to the Swedish metalcore powerhouse as they took the stage. Thrown ignited the mosh pit with their boncy hard hitting low drop-tuned Phonk/Nü-metal inspired riffs and brutal vocals by Marcus Lundqvist. Feeding of the buzz of finally releasing their Debut-album Excessive Guilt , they played banger after banger such as: Guilt, Nights, Backfire, and especially On The Verge. Which had thousands chanting “I TRIED TO CUT THE TIES WITH MY MIND!” Other than their banner falling down before the set (lol), It was a flawless execution from start to finish of beat down metalcore aka “Pissed-Core”. Truly powerful performance by one of the hottest bands in the metal scene today!
After a short touring break from their spring headlining Cure North American tour and brief stint in Europe, ERRA returned with a killer set in which they debuted a new song Idle Wild never played live off their newest album (my personal favorite) which was an absolute treat to hear. Guitarist/Vocalist Jesse Cash encouraged the crowd to channel their feral side during their set, making a room of thousands bark like dogs.
Their light show was top tier and sound was incredible thanks to their absolute legend and professional FOH engineer Joel Adams. ERRA always leaves the crowd thirsty for more and this night was no different!
Last but not least, it was time for Wage War to take the stage, the crowd was energized and ready to bang their heads to the tight and iconic syncopated breakdowns that fans of this band come to expect. They covered a ton of their discography with songs like Stitch, The River, Manic, and new hits such asLow and Magnetic. The crowd did not care that it was the middle of the week on a Wednesday night; they were having fun, venue staff was having fun, I was having fun, everyone was! Thousands of bodies jumping, arms waving, crowds chanting, people surfing, and moshers moshing. Truly an exceptional night of music with a display and celebration for every type of metalcore you could ask for. Fantastic show!
The tour is just getting started so if they’re passing by your area I highly suggest going; for this is front-to-back one of the most elite tour packages of the year!
