I had heard a lot about The Roots of Creation and wanted to see them, so we went to one of our favorite venues, Soundcheck Studios to spend a special night with them. This was an amazing night of high energy, infectious Live Music at its best. Their first set was their own music, a blend of Reggae. jam bands, funk and guitar driven rock. They are a tight band, with everyone feeding off each other and just loving to share their music with the group of enthusiastic concert goers. The best word to describe their music is Wow!
The second set was songs off their album The Grateful Dub, their take on a reggae version of Grateful Dead songs and they did it well!!! Just a very interesting and unique version of these classic songs.
Brett Wilson (guitar, vocals) and Tal Pearson (key boards, backup vocals) met in college in New Hampshire, and started The Roots Of Creation band, named after a Sublime song. They embrace the motto of New Hampshire, Live free or die, as their music goes anywhere and everywhere and breaks barriers. Andrew Riordan (keys, sax and vocals) Kyle Bell (vocals, guitar), Mathew “Dickey” James (Bass) and Brendan "BDilla" Dillion (drums), rounded out the band members. They have a revolving list of guests who make up their live shows. Paul Wolstencroft from Slightly Stoopid played the organ and was a great addition. Mallory Fey was a guest vocalist and Peter Scavongelli played percussion.
We ended up staying way too late, but it just was a magical evening. I cannot wait for Roots Of Creation to come back soon.
