On March 7, 2025, Soundcheck Studios welcomed The Quins final show. The concert
was exceptional with hundreds of fans attending. The sold-out event
attracted people from all around Massachusetts, particularly the South Shore.
The band composed of James (Quincy) Medaglia (lead guitar, lead vocals), Robbie
Sturtevant: lead guitar and vocals, Donny Hayes: bass, vocals, Dave Petti: drums,
vocals, and Steve Capachione: keyboards, all from Bridgewater, MA.
At 8:30 p.m. The Quins came on stage. The band’s dynamic variations of musicality
quickly created an atmosphere of joy, jubilation and exultation throughout the venue. It was a
terrific show from the beginning to the end.
The Quins played a series of songs, most of which originated from pieces Quincy had
been working for many years. Addressing the fans, Medaglia (Quincy), the frontman
of the band, was very grateful.
“What can really be said about a music scene that accepted us almost from the get-go.
Everyone we’ve ever come across during our journey built the band that we became. The
music was going to be what it was no matter where we were on Earth. I mean maybe if
we were in Kentucky we might have been called The Quinbillies and played a little more
of a Bluegrass style but digression is the purest form of…uh what the hell was I
saying?”
He continued: “Oh right. But we happened to be here in the South Shore of Mass.
SURROUNDED by unbelievable talent. How much we love all of you by giving us the
opportunity to make music all these years. Everyone who ever told us how we made
them feel, told us how much we meant to them, told us how much we suck, told us that
we changed their lives, said “how are you guys not famous yet??” It all makes for an
unforgettable experience and has filled my life with a joy that, when I was younger, I
thought was only for people in movies. Soundcheck Studios Pembroke can’t be thanked
enough. They believed in our story and our success and ALL OF YOU just made us feel
like the biggest band in the fucking world.”
Soundcheck Studios is really a family of South Shore musicians and patrons. Everyone
knows each other and it is easy to become part of the family. Musicians jam with each
other during their shows and the South Shore has some amazing musicians. The Quins
are just amazing rock and roll savants.
The beta form of The Quins was initially formed in about 2012 as a project to make
Quincy’s backlog of songs and ideas into a reality. Over the years, they had some
members changes and additions until eventually they settled on the final lineup listed
above. After a short time, the writing technique became much more collaborative
including songs written by Robbie and Donny. The Quins’ music is a culmination of
many inspirations mostly derived from Blues/Psychedelic based Classic Rock as well as
90’s Grunge/Alternative, Pop Rock, Rock Reggae, and even Funk. The Quins pride
themselves on having a wide array of fans from all walks of life. We’ve always tried to
be as inclusive as possible, and our shows breed a sense of welcoming and acceptance
that is intoxicating.
After years of writing, recording, playing 100’s of shows and even doing a bit of touring
in the Northeast, The Quins decided to say goodbye. Not due to a lack of love or
passion for music or each other but more because of the limited availability, limited time,
and the sense that we could not dedicate the proper attention that this band deserves.
So rather than watching our momentum slowly dwindle, we decided to let The Quins be
a special time in the history of our lives that we will all cherish. The Quins music is
available on all streaming platforms.
My great joy as an unconditional fan of Quins is when my fiancé James “Quincy”
Medaglia, the frontman of the band, asked me to marry him on stage.
