On January 19th, metalcore band Spirit Leaves from Orlando, FL took the Cobra in Nashville,
TN by storm with their final performance on their run with Varia and Brave New World. Joined by
local Nashville band Hexproof, the lineup was a stacked one, and the show did not disappoint.
Spirit Leaves's setlist showcased their dynamic blend of hard-hitting instrumentals and melodic
vocals. And with the non-stop energy from both guitarists as they jumped and stomped about
the stage, combined with the heaviness of the drums, it made for an animated show. The crowd
enjoyed it, too, as they clapped along to the beat of the song before breaking out a mosh pit. At
one point, vocalist Xzylo encouraged everyone to light up the venue with their flashlights, and
the crowd happily obliged.
Even though Xzylo's voice was fading, especially as the set went on, he still sang with power,
and the crowd offered their own voices when they could. Likewise, the tight instrumentals added
the perfect backdrop for everyone to jam to, so it wasn't an issue at all.
Finishing off with their newest single "Zealot" was the perfect close to an already exciting set. It
was made even greater when members from Varia and Brave New World took to the stage and
began dismantling Donnie's drumkit in a hilarious prank. By the time they had finished, he was
left with only the bass drum and a snare, while both Spirit Leaves and the crowd laughed at the
antics.
Spirit Leaves put on an engrossing performance that had the crowd buzzing. They may be a
newer band, but they're definitely one to watch. Make sure you see them if you get the chance!
