SPAFFORD AT SOUNDCHECK STUDIOS

On April 3, 2025, Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA, welcomed Spafford. Known for their amazing improvisational ability and their spontaneous creation of music, Spafford is amongst the most creative and hard-traveling bands on the contemporary jam scene, performing along with high profile festival sets at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Firefly Music Festival, and many others.

Over the last 12 years, the group has produced six studio albums. They have made a name for themselves in the live music scene with their unique blend of jam style. Their unique blend of rock, funk, jazz, reggae, ska, disco and electro-pop always keeps the crowd jumping, dancing, and singing. Their performance on April 4th at Soundcheck Studios was no exception.

Spafford took the stage around 8:30 p.m. The lineup was Brian Moss (guitar/ vocals), Cory Schechtman (keys/vocals), Nick Tkachyk (drums/vocals), and Shon Gordon (bass/vocals). The performance was terrific. In Pembroke, Spafford thrives the audience on an extended musical ambiance, with long, winding jams that went from delicate and atmospheric to rhythmic grooves and chord patterns, and long sets of music that cross genre boundaries.

Spafford has an impressive catalog of original material, with catchy tunes like “The Postman,” “Shameless,” and “Ain’t That Lovin’ You”. The group self-releases its recordings, including studio albums, improvisational sessions, and soundboard releases of their live shows. On top of delivering terrific funk, the spirit of the band and his enthusiasm performance made them as one of the most favorite jam bands in the United States.
