On March 23, 2025, people from the North Shore were excited to welcome Pink Talking Fish - Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary Tour at The Cabot. The hybrid band that melds together the sounds of three of the world’s most cherished bands – Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish – played two nights back-to-back concert at the venue. As a professional photographer and a fan of live music, I was delighted to photograph the first night of the musical performance.
Between the remarkable line up of Pink Talking Fish featuring the musical talent of Eric Gould on bass, Steve Learson on keyboards, Zack Burwick on drums, and Cal Kehoe on guitar, and mind-blowing light show, the event was unique and exceptional. These talented musicians from Pink Talking Fish share a profound love for the music of the bands they pay homage to, and their mission is always to keep alive the legacy of the three legendary bands. Job well done.
It was a terrific night of music, beginning with a stunning tribute to Pink Floyd and continuing with the interpretation of songs from Talking Heads and Phish.
When Pink Talking Fish performed Pink Floyd’s “Money,” live at the Cabot, the audience was engaged, singing every word of the music: “Money, get away – get a good job with more pay and you’re okay – Money, it’s a gas – Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash- New car, caviar, four star daydream – Think I’ll buy me a football team…”
Money is a song from Pink Floyd 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. Written by Roger Waters, it opened side two of the original album. Released as a single, it became the band’s first hit in the United States, reaching number 10 in Cash Box magazine and number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
It was the same ambiance when the group interpreted Wish You Were Here following by Comfortably Numb and Have a Cigar.
“Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar, you’re gonna go far – You’re gonna fly, you’re gonna die – You’re gonna make it if you try, they’re gonna love you – Well, I’ve always had a deep respect and I mean that most sincere – The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think – Oh, by the way, which one’s pink?...”
From the interpretation of several iconic songs, such as Brain Damage, Eclipse, Once in a Lifetime, Life During Wartime, Happiest Days of Our Lives, Another Brick in the Wall, the audience inside The Cabot got their first night of concert that captured the eternal power and emotion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish music.
"Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish are all more than just bands... they are Phenomenon's. Their creations have artistically inspired people, and their mind-blowing live performances have brough people together to form a sense of community around the love for their favorite bands. The story is ever evolving. The experience is always thrilling. No two shows are ever the same.
Pink Talking Fish is the ultimate fusion tribute and celebrates the love of this music in unmatched fashion."
