PINK TALKING FISH AT SOUNDCHECK STUDIOS

Review by Jean Senat Fleury

After their performance at the 2024 Lowell Folk Festival, I have been waiting until November 29, 2024, four months later, to see Pink Talking Fish performing at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA. They said it was going to be the concert of the season and it did not disappoint. The sold out show was phenomenal in term of ambiance and attendance. The venue was packed to the rafters with enthusiastic and devoted PTF fans. Some people came from Cape Cod, Boston, New Hampshire and even Maine.

Pink Talking Fish, the hybrid tribute band that melds together the sounds of three of the world’s most cherished bands – Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish – stopped their 2024 Performance Tour in Pembroke. As a photographer and a fan of rock band, I feel blessed to be part of the show. Everything just flows together from these four extremely talented musicians, and they just give it their all.  A Pink Talking Fish concert is just extraordinary and the band takes you on the amazing experience which is hard to duplicate. The setlist felt almost too good for the price that I have paid the ticket. The success of the performance was not so much about magnitude of individual songs but it was about the whole. Leaving the venue at the end of the show, your mind is a little blown; and after three hours of music you want more and more.

With their remarkable lineup featuring the musical prowess of Eric Gould on bass, Richard James on keyboards, Zack Burwick on drums, and Cal Kehoe on guitar, Pink Talking Fish put their music in another level. Eric, Richard, Zack, and Cal have been playing together for 10 years and they are just phenomenal. Looking at their energy on stage, there is no doubt that they share a profound love for the music of the bands they pay homage to, and their mission is to make people remember the debt they have to some musicians such as David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright, Nick Mason, Bob Klose, David Byrnes, Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, Adrian Belew, Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, who made these extraordinary songs which after years and years are always fresh, invigorating, and original.

“The narrative of Pink Talking Fish is one that continues to evolve, and their live performance is consistently nothing short of exhilarating. Listening to the band during their live performance is an invitation to partake in the ultimate fusion tribute, a unique celebration of music that leaves an indelible mark on your soul.”
