Flash Review: Lady Gaga is Back with New Single-Disease!

Lady Gaga is BACK. For the record, she never left. But dark, tortured pop Gaga is back and she is, dare I say, giving us something so sonically complex and beautiful with her new song Disease that we are surely in for the ride of our lives with the yet-revealed name of what will be LG7 early next year. Our beloved genre-bending, musically experimental, mastermind of an artist and musician has rewritten the DNA in our brains with this one.

The intro welcomes us into this journey of sinful beats that set the tone for the wickedly delicious first verse, full of dark and heavy synth beats, vocal layering, feral screams, and growls. Lines of comparison can be drawn to songs like Heavy Metal Lover and Bloody Mary but, it’s also so unlike anything she has ever done. A pop-cultural reset only Lady Gaga can orchestrate in one the most insanely enigmatic ways. The bridge of Disease is a soul-stirring gift, showcasing Gaga’s powerful vocals and emotional depth that is sure to resonate deeply with listeners.

If you are a fan of her earlier work, this is sure to grab ahold of you in a way that Born This Way and ARTPOP did with thick electronic beats and haunting piano notes that are so Gaga-esque in nature, but with a maturity and intricacy that blows the doors off everything else out there right now. Critics are raving, she has arrived.

Gaga is again solidifying her place in pop music royalty with the lead single of LG7. The imagery alone is so evocative of the moody new era of Lady Gaga we are in for. Disease weaves a dark tapestry of sound, hauntingly evocative in its exploration of despair and longing. This song immediately transports you mentally to how it will feel dancing to this song live someday in the most animalistic and liberating way. Little Monsters have eagerly awaited the return of Lady Gaga’s signature sound, and with the release of Disease, their patience has been rewarded. 100/10
