Interview: The James Clark Institute, Single Hit Hollywood, Out Friday March 7th!

Writer: Tara LakatosTara Lakatos

New single release interview with James Clark of the James Clark Institute. "Hit Hollywood" out this Friday, March 7th!

What inspired the creation of this single?

97% of my songs are autobiographical and "Hit Hollywood" is no exception. This was my creative way of dealing with an unpleasant situation.

What story or message does the song convey?

It's the common story of a relationship between two band members gone wrong. I felt so overwhelmingly frustrated with the ongoing situation that I finally shook it loose by sitting down and writing it out of my system.

What challenges did you face while writing or recording?

It what a challenge to NOT make it so revealing as to who I was pointing my finger at.

Is there a personal connection or story tied to the lyrics?

Koff!... Koff!... Oh definitely!!!

Have you performed it live yet, and what was the audience’s reaction?

We've been opening our shows with "Hit Hollywood" for sometime now. It's been going over great. It's fun to hit your audience with a big wallop right out of the gate.

Is this single part of a larger project, like an album or EP?

Yes, this is the 5th single to be released from our latest album, Under The Lampshade. It was produced by Moe Berg (The Pursuit Of Happiness; TransCanada Highwaymen).

Anything Else You'd Like Your Fans to Know.

We've always shot a music video to accompany every single we've released over the last several years. "Hit Hollywood" was to be no exception. Director Sean Ryan and myself were to fly to Los Angeles at the beginning of February to shoot the video in and around Hollywood. Two days after booking the flights and accommodation, the devastating LA wildfires began burning out of control. After postponing our plans for several weeks, we finally decided that it was best to cancel them altogether. BUT all proceeds from sales of the single on our bandcamp page will go directly to wildfire relief via gofundme.com
