Interview: From The Tides, New Single, Hollywood’s Bleeding (Post Malone cover) Out 3/25

What inspired the creation of this single?

I think most of us are fans of Posty in general. It’s always fun to play around with genres and take a popular song from someone and try to make it like we would make it as a metal song.

What story or message does the song convey?

I’ve always thought this track explores the superficiality that people chase while trying to make something of themselves. Relationships in show business feel more transactional and how can we benefit from each other, rather than creating deeper connections. Everyone takes people for what they put up on socials or what their personas on stage tend to be, but Posty even sings “you never took the time to get to know me,”. It feels like it’s just surface level interactions.

Can you tell us about the creative process?

This one kind of came to me while we were talking about new material. I had this idea, and how it could be laid out. Our guitarist Cory did a great job transposing what the original song was doing into fun riffs, which then allowed Dylan to have some fun on the kit. Alex and I split the vocals just how it felt naturally.

How does this song differ from your previous releases?

Apart from being just a cover, it brought out a different style of us than we typically do.

What challenges did you face while writing or recording?:

The biggest challenge was taking a hip hop song and making it us. It had to pass a level that we were happy with, and I think we hit that.

Did you experiment with any new instruments, techniques, or styles?

We definitely experimented with styles. It does take a different kind of technique to write riffs from a hip hop beat, but it was a lot of fun to be able to branch out and try something new.
