On March 30th, 2025- Imminence performed at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC with special guests: Jiluka and Landmvrks. I have never seen any of these bands before and let me tell you; I left that venue speechless and craving for more. Each band delivered a mind-blowing set that left me feeling extraterrestrial and it took forever for me to feel like I was back on this earth.

Opening the night was the band Jiluka and I never listened to this band before, but someone at the venue told me they are a japanese band and that I need to prepare myself for their performance. And the person was right. Jiluka was exhilarating and electrifying. This band in my opinion was the best band of the night because who doesn’t love a gothic electronic metal band? I personally never seen a band live like this before and they instantly became one of my favorites. Each member had a gothic aesthetic to them with their unique outfits and I was honestly so blown away with that because I always tell bands that appearance is very important as well. If you dress how you sound; it intensifies the whole performance and this is what Jiluka did. As the band was performing; all I heard behind me at the barricade was attendees screaming along with the vocalist. Each member reminded me of a Final Fantasy character which brought back nostalgic feelings throughout their whole set. Jiluka needs to come back to the states for a headlining tour because I would go to as many dates as possible!

Next up was Landmrks and this is another band I never personally listened to, but that’s what I’m doing this year. Going to shows and listening to bands for the first time instead of listening to them on Spotify to get the full effect of their performance and true sound. This band is from France I believe and they continued the energy that Jiluka started! During their set; I actually saw one of my good friends that I haven’t seen in a year, so it was great being able to photograph a new band as well as enjoy a song besides my friend! This band's performance left me in a trance with how captivating and riveting it was. The vocalist is very dynamic and versatile with his vocals which made their set even more alluring to watch!

Finally it was time for Imminence and I didn’t know what to expect from their set besides only knowing “God Fearing Man” and how theatrical that video was. So, I kind of knew this band was very theatrical in that aspect and that the vocalist plays the violin! The first time ever listening to this band was when they released their single “Death By a Thousand Cuts” ft Holding Absence and that song was absolutely breathtaking. Besides those two songs; I never really listened to this band, but my best friend told me seeing them in a life changing experience and they put a lot of thought into their stage production and lights. Each member started to walk onto the stage and everyone started screaming behind me which felt like the building was going to collapse. The second the band started; crowd surfers started coming our way instantly and I always say to people; you have to be in shape to dodge and weave crowd surfers at shows because I was out of breath honestly. As the set progressed; I noticed how flexible the vocalist was when he started to retro-lean while playing the violin which automatically made my whole lower back hurt just looking at him doing that. And you have the guitarist and bassist with long hair which means hair swooshes and I lost count how many times each of those members did the famous swooshes. And as a photographer that’s my favorite photos to capture of musicians. I couldn’t capture images of the drummer due to him being all the way in the back, but we will always appreciate the drummers! They may not be seen sometimes, but we hear them loud and clear! Imminence is so aesthetically pleasing to watch because exactly like Jiluka; they dress for the part. And we love seeing bands that care about their appearance. Throughout their set as I was migrating through the crowd; I saw all generations enjoying the set. From people in their possible 80’s to about 3 years old. Imminence is one of those bands that touches the soul of their listeners with how elegant they are with their performances. Bands from different countries will always be top tier and this Sweden band accomplished that with filling the venue from front to back with loving and supportive fans.
