When this show as announced, I knew that I had to go. Greensky Bluegrass’s live shows are just amazing, and The House of Blues is the perfect venue with their fantastic lights and terrific sound system. Kitchen Dwellers are another excellent bluegrass band, making the evening an exceptional experience for bluegrass enthusiasts.

It was a snowy night with more than expected, but that did not deter anyone. What’s a little snow when you can see both of these world class bands? The venue was packed with enthusiastic concert goers showing their appreciation for the bands.

First on was Kitchen Dwellers, a quartet from Montana, whose members are Shawn Swain (Mandolin), Torrin Daniels (Banjo), Joe Funk (Upright Bass), and Max Davies (Acoustical Guitar). They are touring to support their fourth album, Seven Devils. Their Folk-infused Bluegrass with psychedelic visions and rock energy make for a fantastic set.

The band formed in 2010, at Montana State University in Bozeman. They turned jam sessions in their kitchen to playing local bars, open mics and then national touring.

At 9:15 Greensky Bluegrass came to the stage to excited fanfare, hoots and hollers from the audience.  Greensky Bluegrass puts on the best lives shows, playing rock infused Blue Grass with specular light show.

Greensky formed in Kalamazoo MI in 2000 . The quintet is made up of  Anders Beck, (Dobo) Michale Arlen Bont (Banjo), Dave Bruzza (Guitar), Mike Devol (Upright Bass) and Paul Hoffman (Mandolin) have progressed into a phenomenon. They are not just a fantastic bluegrass band but push the limits to the farthest a song can go.  Their shows are a mix of original and cover songs which take the listener to a special place, and it is just perfection.  They put love, energy and focus into their unique music and the audience just loves it! This is what makes them distinctive, rather than merely a traditional blue grass band and that’s why I will go back and see them every time they are in New England.
