After the release of their latest album earlier this year, Four Year Strong hit the road bringing along Death Lens, One Step Closer, and Freethrow and made a stop in Orlando, FL at the Beacham on the bottom half of the tour.
To begin the night was a band I hadn’t heard of or any music from prior to the show, Death Lens. With the building filling up they took the stage to get the crowd ready for the next three bands to come. They didn’t speak too much between songs allowing them to fit as many songs as possible into their time and sounded great. They definitely fit the bill and the crowd seemed to be enjoying them. I’m glad they were a part of this tour and I got to see them and they definitely did their job of getting everyone ready for the next band up.
After Death Lens got the crowd warmed up it was time to pick up the intensity a little bit with a band I’ve really wanted to see after their album they released earlier this year shot into my top 10 albums of the year, One Step Closer. Right off the first note the crowd went nuts for them and they sounded incredible. One of the most fun sets I’ve seen all year even with just a short opening set. They played a handful of songs off their latest album as well as some older songs and the pit and crowd surfing didn’t stop as long as they were on stage. I can’t wait to see them again.
Before Four Year Strong there was still one more band, midwest emo band Free Throw. I hadn’t listened to any Free Throw songs before their set and they reminded me a lot of other midwest emo bands I’ve listened too like Hot Mulligan. They sounded really good and had a super loud crowd who anyone could’ve mistaken them as the headlining act. Since their set I’ve been a fan listening to their music and I’m glad I got to see their performance.
Finally it was time for Four Year Strong to take the stage and everyone was more than ready. They opened with the opening two tracks of their 2024 album but would then go into mixing their old work in as well. They were flying through their set without talking very much between songs and fit 19 songs into their hour or so long set. They played a lot of songs off of their latest record but also played a great mix of their discography and even had a fan voted song in their set they would choose based off which song had the loudest reaction. The crowd was loud and wild for their entire set and I even had to put down the camera and get in the pit for a couple of songs because of how fun it looked. Four Year Strong put on one of the most fun sets I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing with lots of energy, stage presence, and great crowd I was blown away by how great they were live and I cannot wait to see them again.
