Flash Review: Dolly Parton Announces Rockstar Album and Drops the First Single "World On Fire"

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

Dolly Parton has always been been humble no matter how brightly her star has shone. When Dolly found out that she was on the list of nominees to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she immediately requested to be removed. In a statement that Dolly released she said that, "she had not earned the right to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and thought it would be in the best interest of the fans and other nominees to bow out due to potential split vote." The Hall refused to remove her from the nomination pool and Dolly ended up accepting the nomination.

In true Dolly fashion she decided to spice things up and release a rock and roll album. Rockstar will be released this coming November and she has a long list of bonafide rockstars guesting on the album including Sting, Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to name a few. Her lead single "World on Fire" though is a solo effort. She the solo writer and vocalist. Is it hard rock, well no, it's still Dolly. Does it remind me of elements of Queen, yes. The lyrics are current, political and relevant. One thing we can all agree on is the Ms. Parton is one of the greatest lyricists of our time. While most of the album is comprised of cover songs I believe that it will satisfy any naysayer that she belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
