Album Review: Fit For An Autopsy "The Nothing That Is"

Updated: Oct 23

Fit For An Autopsy, these Deathcore Kings are releasing a new album, "The Nothing That Is" via Nuclear Blast on October 25th, 2024. This will be their seventh studio album, featuring 10 heart pounding, adrenaline rushing tracks. The album is filled with their classic savage sound and incorporates melodic melodies. You can hear the contrast of change from their earlier albums such as: The Process of Human Extermination (2011), Hellbound (2013) and Absolute Hope Absolute Hell (2015).

Fit for An Autopsy never disappoints. The balance between the vocals, scorching guitar riffs and a heavy rhythm section is unmatched.

Stand out tracks include:

"Weaker Wolves": This track features absolutely relentless drumming by Josean Orta and guttural/gritty vocals from singer Joe Bad.

"Lurch": In contrast to Weaker Wolves starts off with a super melodic guitar riff, rudimentary drums and echoing vocals. After the first verse, the song blasts you back into your seat like a rocket ship taking off. The extreme contrast in this song made it an instant favorite.

"Lower Purpose": The title is honestly the best way I would describe the guitar tones in this track. The riff has an extremely low and chuggy tone. It really grabs your attention throughout the song.

Fit For An Autopsy is a band that reflects the dark state of current events in their music. Guitarist/lyricist, Will Putney's, lyric writing reflects that sentiment on this album with lines like, " We are destined to know demise. Life, a perfect prison for us", "All life is loss. A pessimist plague, circling trauma, our tortuous maze", and "The gold standard of visceral hate, an ever-flowing stream of misery and violence."

Overall, it's another well balanced, heavy hitting album that we've come to expect from this veteran deathcore band. Their core fanbase will be pleased with this album as it sticks with their classic sound, but everything feels fresh and rejuvenated.

Fit For An Autopsy is a hard-working band has won two awards from Loudwire: Loudwire's 35th best metal song of 2021: "Far from Heaven" from their 2022 album "Oh What the Future Holds." & Loudwire's Best Rock + Metal Album of 2022: "Oh What the Future Holds."

Another notable achievement is their highest-charting release: Oh What the Future Holds, was the band's first album to reach the Top 25 of the Billboard 200.

Fit For An Autopsy is currently on the road for a US tour with BodysnatcherDistantSylosis, and Judiciary from 10/18/24 - 11/17/24. Be sure to get your tickets!

They've so far released three singles off of their upcoming album. Listen to them below.
