Three years after the release of their fifth studio album Picture This (2022), on March 8, 2025, Soundcheck Studios welcomed Crooked Coast. The quartet from Cape Cod, MA, played a terrific concert in front of an audience travelling all over Massachusetts, particularly the South Shore, to see them performing live in Pembroke.
First on was Hitch and Friends, a combination of local musicians headed by Brian “Hutch” Hitchings. Hitch and Friends were exceptional with their blend of Rock, Jazz and Funk. Steve Capachione (keyboards), Daniel Snith (bass), Luke Brech (drums), Quincy Medaglia (guitar) were phenomenal. They were joined on stage by more local artists including Chase Stebbins, Victoria Ashley and Coho James. The group added a lot to the fantastic combination of musicians who created amazing music.
At 9:30 p.m. Crooked Coast came on stage. The crowd was excited to meet the group. Crooked Coast blends reggae rhythms and hip-hop grooves with punk energy and rock jams. Luke James Vose (vocals, guitar), John McNamara (guitar, vocals), Ben Elder (bass, vocals) and Shaqed Druyan (drums) played with high energy and emotion.
The audience was full of joy and elation. They love this creative rock and roll and dance and sing to the grove. Everyone had a great night.
As Luke Vose said, as a photographer and a fan of live music, I would say: “The thing that has impressed me the most is that Crooked Coast has not allowed themselves to be pigeonholed into one specific genre or vibe. They are the definition of genre blending, of saying “fuck it” and playing whatever type of music they feel like. This, combined with their unmatched musical talent, has sent the group on a road towards undoubted success!” Walking Life is the most recent example of just how good these guys are. It is a song about going through the emotions of life and the internal battle one has with themself. Crooked Coast is one of the most successful bands in Massachusetts. Their performance at Soundcheck Studios was proof of that success.
