Beth Hart Eventim Apollo, London UK

Chris Griffiths

On Thursday 20th February, Beth Hart brought her flavour of raw power and soul to the Eventim Apollo in front of a sellout audience. Despite recently battling illness, the American blues-rock powerhouse took to the stage at the Eventim Apollo with unrelenting energy, captivating the crowd from the very first note. Her voice—gritty, soulful, and rich with emotion—rang out across the venue, reaffirming why she remains one of the most beloved figures in modern rock and blues.

As the house lights dimmed, the London crowd erupted in anticipation, eager to welcome Hart back to the city she has enthralled time and time again. Opening with the sultry, jazz-inflected If I Tell You I Love You, she immediately set the tone for the evening, effortlessly blending blues, rock, and raw emotion. Hart’s her smoky vocals weaving effortlessly through the melody like a late-night confession. Moving into Suga n My Bowl and Face Forward, her commanding stage presence was on full display, exuding an intensity that made every lyric feel deeply personal.

Hart’s ability to convey vulnerability and strength in equal measure was evident throughout the setlist. Songs like I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know and Hold Me Through the Night showcased her astonishing vocal range, brimming with heartfelt emotion. Meanwhile, blues anthems like Never Underestimate a Gal and Bad Woman Blues brought a defiant fire to the performance, eliciting cheers from the crowd as she stomped across the stage with undeniable swagger. With unshakable confidence and a wicked grin, Beth turned these anthems into a rallying cry, proving she’s every bit the powerhouse the blues world adores.

A highlight of the night came with her unexpected, soulful take on Take Me Home, Country Roads. Stripping it down to its emotional core, she transformed the classic song into something entirely her own, leaving the audience in awe. The set continued with the raucous energy of Trouble and I Need a Hero, both of which had fans on their feet, singing along with unbridled enthusiasm.

The encore was nothing short of electrifying. Hart’s rendition of Good Times Bad Times paid homage to her rock influences, before launching into a spellbinding performance of Kashmir—her voice soaring effortlessly over the Zeppelin classic, leaving the audience utterly mesmerised.

Throughout the night, Hart’s interaction with the crowd was warm and genuine, her gratitude evident in every word she spoke. She poured her heart into every song, and the London audience responded in kind, their admiration for her unwavering. Hart’s ability to sell out large venues yet still connect with her audience on such a personal and emotional level is testament to her song writing and performing talent. Every song dripped with aching sincerity, as Beth poured her soul into the song, making the lyrics feel like a deeply personal revelation rather than just a performance.

For those lucky enough to be in attendance, it was a night of raw emotion, blistering blues, and rock ‘n’ roll at its finest. Despite any recent setbacks, Beth Hart proved once again why she remains a force to be reckoned with—her voice, her passion, and her undeniable talent leaving an indelible mark on everyone who witnessed it.
