Artist Interview B Fabian

Interview with B Fabian

What first got you into music?

I started making music when I was 14. Back then, it was just something I did for fun — writing, recording, and messing around with sounds. But over time, it became something more serious. Music was my way to process things I didn’t always know how to talk about. I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a country artist or even performing live, but the more I got into it, the more I realized it was something I couldn’t ignore. It gave me a voice before I fully knew how to use mine.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before?

It’s country, but it’s got a raw and real edge to it. I don’t try to sound like anyone else — I just tell my story how it is. There’s a mix of country roots, some modern influence, and a bit of that grit from my early days doing hip-hop and rock. The sound's got heart, but it's also straightforward. If you're looking for something that's honest and not sugarcoated, that's what I bring.

Was there a defining moment when you realized music was your calling?

Yeah, there was. I’d say it hit me during my first real live show when I saw people actually vibing with my music. That feeling is hard to explain — like everything clicked. But another big moment was performing at my community’s 125th anniversary. It wasn’t just about the show — it was about being seen and supported in a space that mattered to me. From there, doors started opening. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a hobby anymore. This was the path.

Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics or melodies?

Most of it comes from real life — my past, my family, the ups and downs I’ve faced. I don’t sit down trying to write the perfect song. I just try to tell the truth, whether it’s about love, doubt, chasing dreams, or trying to be better than the person I was yesterday. A lot of my music is for the underdog — people like me who didn’t always have the perfect path laid out. I just write what I know, and somehow that ends up connecting with others too.

How do you balance personal expression and creating something your audience will love?

I just focus on being real. I figure if I stay true to what I want to say, the right people will feel it. I don’t chase trends or try to sound like whoever’s big right now. At the same time, I think about how it’ll land with people — especially those who’ve been riding with me for a while. There’s a middle ground where you can tell your truth and still make music that people want to play on repeat.

What has been the most rewarding moment of your career so far?

There have been a few, but hearing my music reach people outside of my circle has been huge. Seeing my name featured in places I never expected — like national interviews and playlists overseas — that still feels wild. But honestly, it’s the little things too. Someone sending a message saying a song helped them, or fans singing along live — those moments remind me why I keep doing this.

Are there any specific milestones you’re working toward in your career?

One time I forgot the lyrics mid-performance — just completely blanked. But the crowd kept vibing, and I played it off and got back into it. It ended up being one of the best moments, because it reminded me that people don’t care if you're perfect — they care if you're real. The connection is what matters.

Can you tell us about your latest project or release?

Yeah — I’ve got a new single dropping in May. It’s part of a rollout of singles that’ll eventually lead to my self-titled album. Every release I’ve put out is leading up to that one big moment. I’m doing it all independently, recording and mixing myself, so there’s a lot of personal investment in every track. The next single is one of those songs that really captures where I’m at right now — both as an artist and as a person.

Are there any collaborations in the works you’re excited about?

Definitely. I’ve been connecting with some independent artists that share a similar mindset — people who are grinding and doing it for the right reasons. I don’t want to say too much yet, but there’s good stuff in the works that I’m really excited to share when the time’s right.

What message or emotion do you hope people take away from your music?

That it’s okay to come from a tough place and still chase big dreams. You don’t have to fit the mold or have a perfect past to build something meaningful. I hope my music shows people that they’re not alone — that their story matters, and that you can still rise no matter what you’ve been through.

How do you see your music evolving in the next few years?

I’m always trying to grow — whether that’s learning guitar, performing more, or mixing genres in a way that still feels authentic. I don’t ever want to get stuck doing the same thing over and over. The plan is to keep leveling up while staying true to what brought me here in the first place.

How do you handle the balance between commercial success and artistic integrity?

Being independent gives me a lot of creative freedom, and I’ve learned a lot by handling things on my own. It’s not always easy — there are definitely challenges — but I enjoy calling the shots and shaping my sound. That said, if a label came knocking and it felt like the right fit, I’d be open to it. I just stay focused on the long-term and try to make music that reflects who I am, no matter what stage I’m at in my career.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects, tours, or surprises?

Right now, I’m focused on rolling out singles leading up to the full release of my self-titled album. Each track is its own story and part of a bigger picture I’ve been working on for a while. I’m dropping them one by one to let people really sit with the music before the full project drops. No filler — just real songs that represent where I’m at in life and in my sound. Once the title track’s out, that’ll be the signal that the full album is on the way.
